HVAC Estimator

What This Role Typically Involves
- Performing quantity takeoffs from mechanical drawings and specifications for commercial and multi-family HVAC and sheet metal projects
- Pricing complete HVAC systems including ductwork, ERV/HRV units, make-up air units, condensing units, mini splits, fans, louvers, grilles, diffusers, and fire/smoke dampers
- Estimating sheet metal fabrication, insulation, hangers, supports, and accessories
- Obtaining costs for materials, equipment, and third-party services including crane work and man lifts
- Reviewing and comparing incoming quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
- Ensuring completeness and accuracy of all final estimates
- Creating schedules and execution plans for bid submissions
- Preparing risk assessments and determining appropriate methods to mitigate risk
- Maintaining organized records of estimates, takeoffs, and vendor communications
- Responding to post-bid clarifications and supporting change order estimates
- Managing multiple bids simultaneously and meeting submission deadlines
- Travelling to project sites for RFP kickoffs and site visits as needed
What We Look For in This Role
- 3+ years of estimating experience in HVAC, mechanical, or sheet metal — required
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Understanding of construction contracts
- Strong math skills and sharp attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel especially
- Organized and able to manage multiple bids under deadline
- Clear communicator who follows through
- Experience with estimating software is an asset
Requirements
- 3+ years of HVAC, mechanical, or sheet metal estimating experience
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Comfortable with job management software (Jobtable experience an asset)
- Post-secondary education in mechanical, construction, or a related field is an asset but not required
